Do you know a young person not yet acquainted with Cinderella? There are few pleasures so great as being a parent – or grandparent – to a new human and getting to read to them before bedtime. A scary voice for the villain – a dramatic pause before a magic transformation – what could be better?
Thornwillow’s letterpress-printed edition of Cinderella is accompanied with six original illustrations by John Hutton, and is signed by the artist. It is the perfect gift for someone ready for a little more drama in their lives… not to say for one’s self – you can do the scary voices – we won’t tell…
Thornwillow is pleased to announce our September Dispatch:
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
by F. Scott Fitzgerald
This is as good a time as ever to consider the value of living life in reverse – we would have vaccines before viruses, forests would develop and thrive, polar bears would have enough runway for a slip-‘n’slide. How about it?
If you are a current dispatch subscriber there is nothing to do but bask in the wisdom of your choice. If you are not yet a subscriber we suggest you take steps to reward your future self with a monthly selection of treasures from Thornwillow.
Letterpress is the oldest method of printing, dating back to the 1400s. The inked type is pressed against the paper, indenting the page and leaving a recessed image. This method is crisp and classic, minimizing the presence of any marking on the back.
Engraving is an elegant printing process developed in the 1700s. The type is etched into a copper plate which is inked and pressed against the paper, leaving a raised image on the front and a pronounced bruise on the back. This bruise is the telltale mark of genuine engraving.
While we are on the subject of slippers and what fits – the perfect companion to Cinderella are these lovely ballet slipper note cards and envelopes. Perfect for sending out those “thank you” notes after your debut as Party Guest #3 in the Nutcracker – or for corresponding to your grandchild dancing in distant places.
